August Meeting Highlights

We had a nice crowd at our meeting this past Tuesday .... we seem to grow as the weather turns ....

Our guild has been gifted quite a bit of fabric lately from the estate of a young quilter in the community. We are thankful her family thought of us and are busy putting her goods to use. Marg F. started our giving season off with a number of comfort quilts she made this summer.

Marg also lead a demonstration on a quilt as you go method

Our show and tell was lively per usual,

Kathy has been busy .... this hanging was a Round Robin challenge a few of us took part around 2014. Most of ours are unfinished. Lori S. quilted this piece as a 'favor' to her friend and it is quite stunning. The picture does not do it justice.

The Viking flimsy is fun, fun, fun!

This is an original design by Kathy - Four patch Charm Quilt. She has a free pdf pattern on her site.

Donna shows off some nice quilted oven mitts
Phyl models a newly made bag

Iris has been busy - this stunner is from a pattern called 'Lap of Lux' - her second is 'Fireside Lane' (she dares to call herself a beginner!)

Joanne shows us how color can transform a quilt making the same pattern in different hues

Marg F with an oversize ipad bag and Christmas hanging

Cindy has another show stopper - this Canadiana themed batik quilt is a beauty. It is called 'Spring Thaw'

Until next time,
Happy quilting friends!

July

Our July meeting had a lot to showcase!

We had a pretty emotional meeting in July as we had a going away party for our dear Kathy .... it's difficult to put into words what Kathy means to us as a friend and mentor. She has been at the heart of our guild for a number of years. Our show and tell was a mix of new quilts and old - the old came with a story of how Kathy inspired or supported us with them.

The first shots are pictures of our latest comfort quilts. We're always so proud to showcase our group efforts.

Audrey shows her gorgeous president's block quilt which Kathy custom quilted for her. She also dug out an old celtic knot from the vault. She is happier than this picture appears.

Helen has a shadow box quilt this month.

Cindy shows off her Quarter Sections beginner quilt ... a great job for her first!

Eileen has also dug into the quilt vault ... Kathy quilted this gem for her before she even had a long arm!

Jeannie has three beauties this month

Kathy shows off a Quarter Section sample she made in lovely batiks. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Lorna has a great celtic knot hanging.

Lynne brought her Swoon quilt that Kathy custom quilted for her. It is a real a stunner.

Our Marg's show off some new pieces ... Margie L., Marg F, and Marg H.

Phyl shows off her amazing Gravity quilt which Kathy custom quilted. It is stunning.

She has made this Mind Craft Creeper I believe for a grandchild ... If you don't know about Mind Craft, you aren't 10 years old. Some little boy will flip when he receives this!

Rae shows off a classic - her 'bunny quilt' which Kathy quilted

Vivian with Road to San Diego

Val show off a couple classics here

I'm happily showing off my first Quarter Sections baby quilt which I long arm quilted in Swan River - all in anticipation of my own machine arriving in September. I can only dream of developing the talent Kathy has.

Two more to show ... Cathedral Windows wall hanging which we demonstrated last month and a 4 patch jelly roll quilt I failed to bind for 2 years!

Our Sandra's showcase a couple classics to honor Kathy

And some random shots of our party and potluck - we love get together's with food!

Until next time ......
