Meeting May 15th News

We had a small turn out last night, but we had a lot of great show and tell.

One of our big worries is the transportation block that is due in June. We are hoping to have at least 18 to 20 blocks to make a nice large quilt. So far, we only seem to have about 10 of our members participating. Please consider making a block for the June meeting. It should be 13 inches square so we can trim it down to 12 1/2 inches before piecing. The crayola web site: http://www.crayola.com/ has some great transportation pictures suitable for applique. There are planes, trains, car, buses, and trucks. Have a peek, and see what you can come up with for the June meeting.

Marg F. is demonstrating the paper pieced square for the next comfort quilts. It is a really different square which changes with the different colours used. Pattern can be picked up Faktor's. It is worth giving a try and seeing the surprise stars.

Below are some photos of the ladies holding up their show and tell last night. This is just a small sample of what we were shown. If you showed your item or items and your photo is not on the blog after the meeting, please do not feel slighted. The photos are taken and shown at random. However, if you really want your project posted, please let me know at the meeting and I will try to accommodate you.

There are still a few crayons left for the crayon challenge. Please check back to the earlier blogs for all the rules under the title Crayon Challenge.

In the July meeting we are going to make a small fun project to give to the CQA for their convention. Please save and bring your caps from water bottles.

We are still busy putting together the blocks from the log cabin block of the month. You should see the exciting things we are putting together. We finished basting two of the quilts and have finished putting together two more tops. We are looking for some machine quilters. Any ladies wanting to take a quilt home to machine quilt, please contact any member of the executive. Machine Quilters Wanted!

Until the next meeting, Happy Quilting!

Meeting Notice May 15th

Next guild meeting is Tuesday, May 15th at the Northminster United Church. We will be at the Church from 9AM to 9PM. Business meeting starts at 7PM. All are welcome to come for the whole day. Bring Lunch and supper and enjoy the fellowship.

May's program will be Colour Play demonstrated by Marg Faktor. The paper pieced pattern she is using will be the next comfort block for the months of June and July. This pattern changes with colour values. Should prove to be an interesting demonstration.

We are looking for some new program ideas, so think about what kinds of demonstrations you would like and talk to one of the executive or leave a comment on this blog. We are always looking for new ideas and suggestions. New input makes the group more interesting.

We are basting two quilts during the day, so we could sure use some extra hands.

See you on Tuesday. Happy quilting!
